The Tennessee Volunteers jumped to the top of the SEC standings after the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs lost to the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday. However, Joel Klatt does not think Tennessee is the SEC’s best team. The Texas A&M Aggies are second in the standings, although they did not have play due to a Week 11 bye.
The Texas Longhorns come in at number three after dismantling the Florida Gators in a 49-17 blowout win, and Georgia claimed the fourth spot after the loss to Ole Miss. The No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide had a dominant 42-13 win over the No. 15 LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, as quarterback Jalen Milroe finished the game with 109 passing yards, 185 rushing yards, and four touchdowns.
While Tennessee is at the top of the SEC standings heading into Week 12, Klatt still believed another school that uses the abbreviation “UT” was the actual top dog in the conference. They have an answer at quarterback if their starter doesn’t play well, and I think they have the best defense in the conference.” Klatt also believed the Longhorns have had the best defense in the SEC this season. Texas leads the SEC in points allowed (12.1) and passing yards allowed (135.3) per game and is seventh in rushing yards allowed per game (115.7). Texas travels to Fayetteville to play the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday.
