Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is closing in on making his unofficial debut for Chelsea in pre-season, while Nicolas Jackson is also believed to be nearing his first appearance of this United States tour.
Dewsbury-Hall is ahead of schedule after picking up an ankle problem at the end of last season when Leicester won the Championship title under Enzo Maresca.
The £30million midfielder, now reunited with Maresca, has since impressed Chelsea’s coaches and been seen doing additional running drills after training.
The club do not want to rush back their summer signing and have been erring on the side of caution.
Chelsea are set to face Club America in Atlanta on Wednesday, when we will discover if Dewsbury-Hall is deemed fit enough to make the substitutes’ bench.
Friendlies against Manchester City and Real Madrid will then follow before Chelsea return to London to face Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca is still awaiting his first win since taking over, having drawn 2-2 with Wrexham and lost 4-1 to Celtic.
Jackson has not yet featured as he continues to recover from an ankle issue, but he was brought along to the United States in the hope of eventual involvement.
