Louisville was chosen by the former Notre Dame commit ahead of Auburn, Syracuse, and Washington.
Louisville football got a major boost to their 2025 recruiting class today with the addition of 4-star edge, CJ May. The former Notre Dame commit picked Louisville over Auburn, Syracuse, and Washington. He also held offers from Tennessee, Georgia, Clemson, Texas A&M, Miami, Penn State, and others.
May is the first composite 4-star in the class and he is a very nice get for Ron English and the Louisville defensive staff. May is 6-4/230 and he has a frame that can add more weight once he gets to college. As a pass rusher, May shows inconsistent technique but when he does use proper technique it is very good and effective. His arms aren’t freakishly long like we’ve seen from some other highly-rated edges, but May has plus athleticism and skills.
UofL has focused on the portal under Jeff Brohm and I don’t see that changing with the amount of guys they will have to replace after this season. May should still have a very good shot at seeing the field as a freshman in some capacity. If he arrives in the spring, I could see him getting his weight up by the fall and being a package player and a potential special teams contributor. The biggest question is if he ends up at the LEO position or as a defensive end. I believe he can excel at either.
