Mike White, a former quarterback with the Miami Dolphins, signs with the Buffalo Bills
Bills visit Dolphins for Thursday Night Football in Week Two
The Miami Dolphins trimmed their roster down to 53 players on Tuesday. Prior to that, veteran quarterback Mike White was released by the team to give the player time to find a new home. Unfortunately, that new home ended up being in Buffalo, New York.
On Tuesday night, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that White took a free agent visit with the Buffalo Bills. It was then quickly reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that White signed on the dotted line to join Buffalo’s practice squad. The Bills were in search of quarterback depth behind their star signal-caller Josh Allen. Presumably, it also doesn’t hurt that White is well-versed in Mike McDaniel’s new offensive playbook for the 2024 season.
The Bills will visit the Dolphins in Week Two when the two clubs play each other on Thursday Night Football, and Buffalo will most certainly mine the former Dolphins quarterback for information in an effort to gain an advantage ahead of the matchup — a thought that might leave Dolphins fans, players and coaches feeling a bit queasy during the buildup to the game.
White served as a backup to Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa last season, playing six games for Miami. During that time, he threw six passes, completed five of them, and amassed 74 yards through the air and one touchdown throw to former Dolphins wide receiver Robbie Chosen.
