Moving forward, Greg McElroy sees a “significant problem” for Georgia.
Greg McElroy believes the Georgia Bulldogs may have a “significant problem” on their roster going forward.
The former QB spoke on the Bulldogs during a segment on his Always College Football show on Monday. While reviewing the Kentucky game in Week 3, in which the Bulldogs barely escaped with a win, McElroy noticed that the Bulldogs’ offensive line could be a problem.
McElroy pointed to Tate Ratledge suffering an injury and Monroe Freeling coming in for Earnest Greene III as reasons to be concerned.
“I’m going to be watching that offensive line now going forward,” McElroy declared. “They were a little inconsistent last night (against Kentucky) and that could be a significant problem when you think about what’s coming up for Georgia.”
Georgia’s offensive line has only allowed 2 sacks through 3 games, but injuries and inconsistency could change that rather quickly. The team has allowed 11 tackles for loss already, which is not a typical occurrence for Georgia offensive lines.
“So, the offensive line is maybe a position that needs to be monitored going forward (for Georgia).”
As McElroy noted, this could be a bad sign considering the Bulldogs’ remaining schedule. The Bulldogs have games against Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee, all of whom are teams that will exploit a weak offensive line.
Even on a down night, the Bulldogs still escaped Lexington with a 14-13 win to remain perfect. The team will now enjoy a bye week in Week 4 to prepare for an upcoming matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.
