The Chelsea power struggle continues at the very top of the club, but one outlet claims that it only sees one winner in all of this, and it is not what the Chelsea fans want.
It seems that Todd Boehly is the most popular ownership party amongst the Chelsea fan base right now, way more than Behdad Eghbali and Clearlake Capital.
But do they even care about what the fans think? Does it even matter? Or is it a case of just money being the most important power here and all that matters. Money will win, and fans voice is irrelevant.
I’m sure both Eghbali and Boehly do care about winning of course, because winning and money goes hand in hand in this business. But fans want an owner who genuinely cares and feels the club and understands it and what it is about. They want an owner who hears and takes on board what the fans say. They want communication from their owners.
Only one winner
The Times believe there is only one winner though, and that will not be Boehly.
Their latest report says insiders consider the purchase of Todd Boehly’s stake as the most likely outcome here as the two ownership parties have fallen out.
They also say that Clearlake Capital are backed by a £90 BILLION fund they control as well as personal billions of Egbhali and Feliciano. And perhaps that is why they will eventually end up winning.
As I said, money talks, money wins.
