The New England Patriots’ offensive line is undoubtedly a work in progress.
The latest ranking from offensive line analyst Brandon Thorne has the Patriots slotted as the second-worst unit in the NFL. Only the Washington Commanders were picked as having a worse unit.
The Patriots made the offensive line a priority this offseason. They re-signed veterans Mike Onwenu and David Andrews to contract extensions, and they also added youth during the 2024 NFL draft by using a third and fourth-round pick on Penn State’s Caedan Wallace and Texas A&M’s Layden Robinson.
It became clear early that the offensive line would be a priority for the organization after they used their No. 3 overall draft pick on quarterback Drake Maye.
Even with all of their offseason moves, the Patriots still have some work to do. Thorne broke things down further in his recent ranking on Establish The Run, via Patriots.com’s Evan Lazar.

The Patriots’ offensive line could improve throughout the season. There are still plenty of moving parts and question marks.
The foundation for the line is certainly there, especially given what the organization was able to do during the draft. Now, it’s just about development and execution.
