This week, there is a clear number one team, and it’s the Philadelphia Phillies.
Owners of the best record in the league, the Phils bested the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Guardians to get the top spot.

With three wins in a row and eight of the last ten, the Phillies are probably the hottest team in the National League.
At 34-14, no team has a better record than them.
At .708, they remain the only MLB organization with a winning percentage over .700 as of Monday afternoon.
They also lead the league in runs scored with 256, even better than the almighty Dodgers who are at 253.
Not only that, but Philadelphia’s pitching has been amazing, too.
They have the fourth-best ERA in the circuit at 3.17, and their starters have been unbelievable.
With a couple of relievers, this team might finally be in a good position to win it all in October.
It appears that’s the ultimate goal, but they have put together such a good roster that they are already five games ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East standings.
The Braves have dominated the East in the last few years, but that run appears destined to have a big challenger in the Phillies.
Philadelphia just doesn’t have too many flaws, and with Bryce Harper and Zack Wheeler leading the lineup and staff, respectively, they have the personnel to win over a long season and also compete in short series.
They are very, very good, so the league better be prepared.
