New season, new manager, new Chelsea?
Enzo Maresca could have hardly asked for a tougher first Premier League assignment in charge of Chelsea than playing his former team, and his former mentor. That’s right, it’s Diet Pep versus Full Calorie Pep on opening day at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 18.
Yikes.

The rest of the first five fixtures on tap are not exactly kind to Maresca either.
After City at home, we will face Wolves (away), Crystal Palace (home), Bournemouth (away) and West Ham United (away) — three potentially very tricky away fixtures. And after a brief respite, it’s another difficult run through mid-October and early November (Liverpool A, Newcastle H, Manchester United A, Arsenal H).
Baptism. By. Fire.
If we can make it through all that intact, we just might have a chance to see Maresca get a decent way into his five-year contract.
On the plus side, the festive period looks pretty favorable.
Good luck to us.
There’s little point in listing the exact fixture dates and times right now, since most of them will get shuffled around for TV.
