Rain may affect the timetable for the Grand Prix race.
Saturday & Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway
A chance of rain is forecast for Saturday which could wash out qualifying for Sunday’s Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway.
In that event, the starting lineup for the 27-car field will be based on the point standings, which will put Alex Palou on the pole.
Will Power, the only driver with a shot at beating Palou for the IndyCar championship in the season finale, will start on the outside of the front row.
Colton Herta, a California native who moved to Nashville last year and drives a car co-owned by Nashville racing/music mogul Mike Curb, would start 4th and Hendersonville’s Josef Newgarden 8th.
If the rain holds off, Saturday’s qualifying will start at 1:45, with drivers shooting for Scott Dixon’s NSS track record (206.211 mph) set in 2003.
Should Sunday’s scheduled 2 p.m. race be rained out it will be run on the next clear day, with a to-be-determined starting time.
