The true reasons as to why Conor Gallagher ultimately chose to leave Chelsea Football Club have been revealed. The England international hasn’t yet left the Blues, a club he is said to cherish, but a transfer is apparently close. There is even a claim doing the rounds which states that Gallagher declined an offer from the west London outfit which would have placed him amongst the side’s highest earners. If an agreement between athlete and his club cannot be found, where will the midfielder end up? And do his suitors play in the Premier League or elsewhere? These are important questions for many CFC supporters.
Clearly it’s not all about money for Conor Gallagher. That’s if we believe a suggestion from a reliable source that the Chelsea Academy graduate rejected huge wages from the team he actually loves. Although I consider him more useful at CFC than competing for another team, this is refreshing to hear when discussing footballers.
If you have watched the midfielder appropriately known as the ‘Norseman’ closely, you’ll know his on-field warrior status is earned. I can’t actually imagine the most committed of players, such as Gallagher, demanding unreasonable pay. It’s the prima donna-types who surely fall into that category.
But the occasional Chels’ captain shows more than grit and determination for his boyhood side. Gallagher is a naturally gifted professional as well as a reliable one. He is somewhat of a technician, having a fairly rounded midfield repertoire.
Nevertheless, newly appointed Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has seemingly made a decision on 24-year-old. Maresca ostensibly informed Gallagher that he would not be a starter in his regime. The Three Lions squad member would also be rotated or deployed as backup under the ex-Leicester City chief.
Presumably Gallagher was unhappy with the new gaffer’s choice, as anyone would be if in the former’s situation. I assume playing time is the reason why he did not join the Blues roster in America. Whether he was in fact asked not to go to the United States is anyone’s guess at this point.
Though, the one-time Crystal Palace loanee might have actually turned down contract offers up until last week. One report asserts that the short length of prospective deals is what annoyed Gallagher. He’d rather be secured long-term, it is declared.
Nevertheless, it appears that the Epsom-born man has indeed been exiled from Maresca’s set-up. It feels like only a matter of time before he switches to La Liga with Atletico Madrid.
