According to recent reports by Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Andre Drummond is expected to seek a new team. In July 2022, Drummond signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Bulls. The 30-year-old Bulls center averaged 8.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in the 2024 regular season. The former UConn star will become a free agent this summer and be available for other teams to add to their roster.

“What remains to be seen, however, is what direction do the Bulls go? Do they prepare for DeMar DeRozan possibly leaving in free agency, or if he does return — the more likely scenario — draft his heir apparent at the small forward position? Do they grab a big to replace the expected vacancy with Andre Drummond looking for a new team, as well as some youth to push starter Nikola Vucevic?” Cowley wrote.

In February 2024, Drummond was fined by the NBA for making an inappropriate gesture during a game. He was selected ninth overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 2012 NBA Draft and played for them from 2012 to 2020. In February 2020, he was acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for John Henson, Brandon Knight, and a 2023 second-round lottery pick.
Drummond joined the Los Angeles Lakers in March 2021 on a one-year contract worth $794,536, providing an offensive boost to a team lacking injured players LeBron James and Anthony Davis. After playing for a few months, Drummond was then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in August 2021. Following the end of his one-year contract with the 76ers, Drummond was traded to the Brooklyn Nets along with Ben Simmons and Seth Curry during the 2022 NBA season.
During a recent interview, DeMar DeRozan, a player for the Bulls, stated that his altercation with Dillon Brooks was predominantly due to Brooks’ aggressive playing style, which he finds unsuitable.
