The SF Giants suffered a brutal 7-6 loss on Monday after losing a four-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They will lean on Blake Snell to get back in the win column in his return from the injured list.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, May 22
Snell made three appearances with the Giants earlier in the season, but it was a rough start each time out. He yielded 15 earned runs in 11.2 frames in a Giants uniform before landing on the injured list with an abductor strain.
The two-time Cy Young winner did go through a couple of rehab starts and looked good in the process. The results do not matter much, but Snell likely rushed too quickly to start the season with San Francisco after signing late in the offseason.
Who it hot?
Marco Luciano has a modest, four-game hitting streak going after collecting two hits in Tuesday’s 7-6 loss to the Pirates. Both of his hits had an exit velocity of over 100 MPH, so he made solid contact. Of course, it bears mentioning that the young shortstop made a brutal error in the loss as well.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants will face off against Jared Jones. He has tallied a stellar 2.89 ERA through nine outings to start his career. The righty pitcher faced off against the Giants earlier in the season and allowed three earned runs in six innings.
