Since neither Mitch Moses nor his agency can confirm that he will stay with the team until the end of his contract
‘They can’t guarantee it’: Worrying Moses refusal ramps up Eels exit rumours
The rumours circulating over Mitch Moses’ future with the Eels won’t go away, with the star halfback or his agent unable to guarantee he’ll be at the club until the end of his deal.
Moses is contracted to Parramatta until the end of 2026 with options for 2027 and 2028 but due to the Eels’ horror season, which has been capped by losing some of their top juniors to rival clubs, there are suggestions he could become disillusioned.
The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield said on Monday night’s episode of NRL360 that despite his best efforts, he couldn’t get any of the parties involved, including the halfback’s agent and cousin Isaac Moses, to guarantee Mitch being at the club until the end of 2026.

“I spent all Friday speaking to the Eels and speaking to Isaac Moses,” Rothfield said.
“All I kept saying to them was ‘please guarantee that he’ll be there for the next two years’. I even said I’ll give you until Saturday morning when the column goes off to the lawyers and they will not guarantee he’ll be there.”
Fox League’s James Hooper last week opined that Moses would be feeling restless at the Eels due to the club’s poor form, recruitment mess and sacking of coach Brad Arthur earlier in the year.
He also referenced Moses’ reported “blow up” in the Eels dressing rooms following a Round 17 loss to Newcastle and believes that the halfback wouldn’t be the only unhappy player at Parramatta.
“The reason they won’t guarantee it is because they can’t guarantee it,” Hooper said.
“You can go back as far as six weeks and I think there was a story in the SMH that said Moses has had a blow-up in the dressing room.
“He referenced club management and the players need to be better and we can’t let their (front office) ineptitude and their mistakes start to impact on our performance.
“Mitchell wouldn’t be a lone ranger in not being a happy camper at Parramatta.”
Rothfield said that while the Eels have released a “denial” that Moses is going anywhere, the lack of a public statement from Moses or his manager is telling.
“This is where Parramatta’s management is soft. I went to (Eels CEO) Jim Saratinos and he said ‘I’ve put out a denial. We’ve spoken to Mitchell and he’s happy’,” Rothfield said
“I said why don’t you put two paragraphs down saying ‘I’m committed to Parramatta and I’m looking forward to a rebuild.’ He wouldn’t do it and neither would his manager.
“So it’s ok for these clubs to say that, but when you go to the actual person, the subject of the speculation, and they don’t want to be party to it.”
