Sri Lanka will host India in a 3-match T20I series in Pallekele from July 27 to 30
Sri Lanka announced a 16-member squad to take on Suryakumar Yadav-led India in a three-match T20I series from July 27 to 30 in Pallekele. As expected, Sri Lanka named middle-order batter Chairth Asalanka as their captain for the series. Asalanka takes over from Wanindu Hasaranga, who quit the role after Sri Lanka’s early exit from the T20 World Cup in June in the USA and the West Indies.
Much like Sri Lanka, India also appointed a new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav after Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket following the World Cup triumph. While Gautam Gambhir has travelled with the senior national team as its new head coach, Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as Sri Lanka’s interim head coach for the upcoming series.
Sri Lanka have named a power-packed unit, which has a good mix of experience and youth.
