The offensive line of the Steelers has not impressed the analyst.
The Pittsburgh Steelers enter the upcoming campaign with high hopes and expectations.
The team has historically fared quite well defensively under Mike Tomlin’s tutelage, but the offense has constantly been a work in progress, particularly over the past four years or so.
Of course, plenty of that has had to do with subpar quarterback play.
Nonetheless, the offensive line has been far from impressive lately, and analysts aren’t particularly high on them right now.
At least, that’s how Warren Sharp feels.
In his latest rankings, he had the Steelers’ offensive line ranked at No. 20, mostly due to its lack of experience.
In its analysis, Sharp points out that the Steelers will star three first or second-year players: Zach Frazier, Troy Fautanu, and Broderick Jones.
Needless to say, this is great news for the future of the organization, but they could struggle to establish themselves early in their careers.
Russell Wilson isn’t the player he used to be in terms of extending plays or making plays with his feet.
He’s still somewhat mobile and is a savvy veteran, but he will need a clean pocket to operate.
Also, the running game needs to be a factor to take some weight off his shoulders, and Arthur Smith’s offenses have usually leaned heavily in the running game.
The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game in quite a while, and patience is starting to run out around the fan base.
Hopefully, this unproven offensive line will hold up better than expected, as the potential is definitely there.
