The Blues arrived in San Jose in the early hours of Tuesday morning and after waking up and having breakfast, the players started their day by going for a leisurely walk around the local area close to their hotel.
The morning also saw Moises Caicedo link up with his teammates after flying in separately following his exploits with Ecuador at the Copa America.
That was soon followed by a session in the hotel swimming pool, where the players could stretch their muscles and loosen up ahead of the day.
After lunch, the players headed to the iconic Stanford University and the home of their Stanford Cardinal college football team for a training session.
The Blues will be based at Stanford Stadium in the build-up to the opening match of our 2024 USA Tour against Wrexham at the nearby Levi’s Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off 7pm local time, 10pm ET and 3am BST (Thursday 25 July).
The players started with pre-activation work in the gym before heading out onto the grass. The session began with some Rondos for the outfield players before Enzo Maresca worked on attacking patterns of play.
Maresca and captain Reece James then travelled to Levi’s Stadium, home of NFL side San Francisco 49ers, for their respective press conferences previewing the match with Wrexham.
While the players enjoyed some dinner and relaxation time back at the hotel in the evening, former Blues goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini joined more than 200 supporters at a fans’ event at The Brit sports bar in San José, which was hosted by San Jose Blues and Bay Area Blues.
Cudicini joined host Zac Djellab on stage to discuss all things Blue and to answer supporters’ questions before those in attendance had the chance to meet the fans’ favourite.
You can still buy tickets for Chelsea versus Wrexham and for those not based in the USA or Canada – where the game will be shown by domestic broadcast partners – you can stream it live on the official Chelsea website and app for £4.99.
The live stream on our website enables casting to smart TVs, while the Chelsea app exclusively features enhanced stats and event tracking. Broadcasting on both platforms begins 20 minutes before kick-off.
