Wesley Fofana has opened up on life under Enzo Maresca and revealed the one thing the Italian mentions every day in training.
Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino earlier this summer and signed a five year contract at Stamford Bridge after guiding Leicester to the Championship title last season.
The 44-year-old has overseen a mixed start to the season which sees the Blues sit eighth in the league on seven points after their first three games.
Fofana on life under Maresca
Maresca lacks top level experience and prior to his move to Chelsea last season at Leicester was his only season of senior management experience.
The Italian forged a reputation for his distinct style of play with the Foxes and there are early signs of a clear identity and style of play forming at Chelsea, although there’s still a long way to go.
Fofana, who missed all of last season with an ACL injury has started all four Premier League games this season has opened up on life under Maresca.
“We have a lot of meetings and watch a lot of videos to see the plan,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“We started in pre-season. First training session of the season he told the team what he wants and it is good. The style is good for the players we have. It’s offensive football. It’s very good.’
“When you want to win titles and want to win every weekend, you focus on the little details. This is the difference between a good team and a big team. He explains every day in training that the little details are very important.”
He certainly seems very switched on tactically and actively get’s involved in training sessions and you can tell the players enjoy his training sessions.
Maresca is highly regarded within the game and it will be interesting to see how his time at the club develops and if he’s given the time to carry out the job he’s been employed to do.
