DeMar DeRozan’s time with the Chicago Bulls might have come to an end already.
The veteran shooting guard had a solid three-year tenure in the Windy City, but with the Bulls most likely looking to rebuild, they might have no use for him anymore.
Likewise, DeRozan should have little to no interest in joining a team with no postseason aspirations.
He was rumored to be on his way back to his hometown to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, the fact that LeBron James didn’t take a pay cut as rumored makes that unlikely unless they do some sort of sign-and-trade with the Bulls.
With that in mind, the San Antonio Spurs could look to make a run at him, according to a report by Heat insider Barry Jackson (via NBA Central):

DeRozan already knows what it is like to play for Gregg Popovich.
The Spurs recently signed Chris Paul, and adding another veteran next to Victor Wembanyama could do wonders for his development, not to mention the fact that it would show him that they’re trying to win.
Needless to say, the Spurs would still be far away from contention, but adding these two veterans should at least help them be in the race for a spot in the Play-In Tournament.
Wembanyama is the most exciting young player in the league right now, and he’s already luring star players to his team.
The Spurs also have the cap space flexibility to make this happen, so it’ll be interesting to see how this story pans out.
