Chelsea made 9 changes to their team last night, not unprecedented given the context but certainly a step beyond any of the rotations we saw from Mauricio Pochettino last season, who would sometimes infuriate fans by picking first XI players in need of a rest in games they could afford to miss.
It looks like Enzo Maresca is going to take the opposite approach, and that’s been applauded by many fans. On the London is Blue podcast, they pointed out that the fact that we have so many players in the squad, and that so many of them have long term injury concerns, makes us the perfect candidate for a season with two different first teams.
