Chelsea surged into the top four with another big win this weekend, and now sit just two points behind Liverpool atop the Premier League table.
It was another win to lift spirits at Stamford Bridge and get everyone believing that not only is this team far ahead of schedule – it can also go all the way and win something this year.
If you think back to a year ago, we were off to a bad start and never really recovered. Yet we still came incredibly close to a trophy. Now we’re miles better, and should really be looking to attack both domestic cups, the Conference League – and a top four finish in the league at the very least.
Great vibes point in the right direction
There has been criticism of Robert Sanchez, a little for the defenders around him, but basically vibes are good – if not great – and a win before the international break would only enhance that.
There’s immense competition for places at the moment thanks to the favourable injury situation – another major improvement on last year. Enzo Maresca is channelling that competition well, and the midweek rotations are keeping everyone fresh.
After the international break we return to face Liverpool at the top of the table – and that really will be a thriller. If we can do the business against Forest this weekend. It could even be a game that takes us top of the league, if other results go our way.
The fixture list gets a lot harder starting with that game at Anfield – but that’s been coming for a while, and discussed plenty. The important thing is that we picked up a lot of points in the easier games, and have put ourselves in a great position for the rest of the year.
