The WNBA spotlight continues to shine on two of the league’s brightest young stars — Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark. But when one fan suggested that Bueckers lacked the same “killer instinct” that Clark is known for, her Dallas Wings teammate, Luisa Geiselsöder, wasn’t having it.
During her appearance on The Journey podcast with host Enosch Wolf, Geiselsöder was asked to choose between Clark and Bueckers. Without hesitation, she picked her teammate Paige, igniting a wave of debate online. After the clip was posted to Instagram, one fan commented, “Caitlin Clark is revolutionizing women’s basketball right now. Paige Bueckers is extremely good but without ‘killer instinct.’”
Geiselsöder quickly came to her teammate’s defense, replying, “Caitlin Clark is definitely an important part of the revolution in women’s basketball. Definitely not the only one though… Paige Bueckers has a ‘killer instinct’ I can confirm 100% from live experience :).”
It’s hard to argue with the numbers. In her rookie WNBA season, Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals over 36 games, earning the 2025 Rookie of the Year award and an All-Star Game start. Clark, despite missing games due to injury, still impressed with 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 13 appearances for the Indiana Fever.
As both players continue to shape the future of women’s basketball, the comparisons are inevitable. But if Geiselsöder’s words are any indication, Paige Bueckers’ “killer instinct” is alive and well — and it’s only the beginning.
