Would You Like to Watch Moises Ballesteros Slap a Base Stealer? Naturally, You Do!
Rain delays suck, but at least the Cubs prospects are giving us something to do with our time (Owen Caissie leadoff homer, Kevin Alcantara streak-continuing blast).
The latest treat, however, is not from the offensive side of the ball. Instead, please sit back and enjoy the Cubs 20-year-old Triple-A catcher, Moises Ballesteros, throwing out a would-be base stealer.
Ballesteros’ bat propelled him to the highest level of the minors despite some lingering questions about his glove. But this isn’t the first highlight we’ve seen from him behind the plate. I don’t know how long it’ll take Ballesteros to evolve into a playable big-league catcher, but if he can do it, he’s going to be a superstar. Such a fun season to watch.
Oh, yes, I may as well update: Since being promoted to Triple-A, Ballesteros is slashing .298/.344/.512 with an 18.9% strikeout rate. Yeah. He’s the goods.
