Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has been open about her love for the franchise, even calling her trade to the Fever one of the highlights of her WNBA career. In a TikTok post with KRCG13, she described returning to the Midwest and joining a team with a supportive culture as a career milestone. Cunningham noted that the team’s players and staff made her transition “absolutely amazing,” highlighting the personal and professional value of the move.
Earlier, Cunningham sparked discussion when she listed New York, Seattle, and Phoenix as the WNBA teams with the most player-friendly ownership on her Show Me Something podcast, noticeably omitting Indiana. Some fans questioned whether this indicated tension with the Fever front office. However, she quickly corrected the record in a subsequent episode, adding Indiana to the list and praising the franchise’s investment in top-tier facilities. She pointed out the Fever’s 2027 practice facility, describing it as “one of the best in the entire world,” and emphasized that Indiana “takes care of you from top to bottom.”
Cunningham’s clarification underlines her appreciation for the organization while balancing candid commentary about league-wide owner engagement. She acknowledged that some teams pour resources into player support, while others fall short, but she made it clear that Indiana belongs in the first category. Her remarks also reinforce the Fever’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and player experience as part of the broader league evolution.
With the WNBA currently paused until a new collective bargaining agreement is finalized, Cunningham, along with many other players, will enter free agency afterward. Despite potential opportunities elsewhere, all indications suggest she intends to remain with Indiana, continuing to contribute alongside stars like Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull. Fans can expect Cunningham to be a key piece of the Fever’s roster and culture heading into the 2026 season.
